At 1017 acres (4.1 km², 1.6 mi²), it is in the shape of a long rectangle, similar in shape but 174 acres (0.7 km², 0.27 mi²) larger than Central Park in New York. With 13 million visitors annually, Golden Gate is the third most visited city park in America (after Central Park and Lincoln Park in Chicago).
