Situated on the shores of beautiful Lake Merritt in Oakland, California and only minutes from downtown San Francisco, is the Oakland Scottish Rite Center. this impressive and unique structure was built in 1927 and boasts ornate design, soaring hand-carved ceilings, grand staircases and opulent furnishings. It is truly one of the most interesting and wonderful buildings in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers the kind of ambiance that is rarely found in meeting and convention centers today. But the Scottish Rite Center is more than beautiful. It is practical as well. The facility offers small and large meeting rooms seating parties of 30 to 300; a grand ballroom that will seat up to 1,000 comfortably; catering facilities and services; two full-service kitchens; an upstairs Main Auditorium with seating for 1,500; and the deepest stage in the Oakland Area. Ample, lighted parking is available in three different lots around The Center, and shuttle service is provided to major hotels.
Please note that while our building is on Lakeside Drive, our parking lot is at the rear of our building on Madison Street, which is a one-way, West bound street. Both Lakeside and Madison are one-way streets, running in opposite directions.
The parking lot is free, but space is limited to about 60 cars. If full, additional on-street parking is usually available within a reasonable walking distance from the Center.
